Employment Support Programmes — Free Help to Build Skills, Confidence and Job Opportunities

April 20, 20261 min read

Looking for work can feel overwhelming, especially when you are trying to balance health conditions, caring responsibilities or a lack of confidence after time away from employment.

The Disability Resource Centre's employment support programmes are here to help. We offer practical, free support for people who want to build skills, explore opportunities and move closer to work.

What Our Employment Support Includes

Our employment support programmes are designed to help people at different stages of their journey.

Support may include:

  • Guidance while looking for work

  • Information about free training opportunities

  • Signposting to volunteering options

  • Help building confidence and practical skills

  • Access to useful employment and job-support resources

  • The focus is on helping people move forward in ways that feel realistic and supportive.

Who It Is For

Our employment support is especially helpful for:

  • Disabled people

  • People with long-term health conditions

  • Carers returning to work

  • People exploring new job options

  • Anyone who needs encouragement, information and practical next steps

We know that one route does not fit everyone, so our support is designed to be flexible and person-centred.

More Than Job Searching

Employment support is not only about finding the next vacancy. It is also about:

  • Understanding your strengths

  • Building confidence

  • Accessing the right learning opportunities

  • Finding supportive pathways into work

  • Exploring volunteering as a stepping stone

For some people, the right starting point is skills development. For others, it is simply having someone help them see what is possible.
