
Trustee / Board Member
About the Role
The Disability Resource Centre is governed by a Board of Trustees who provide strategic leadership, oversight and support to the organisation. We are looking for new Trustees to join our Board and help shape the future of DRC. This is a voluntary role, though reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
What's Involved
As a Trustee you will work alongside fellow Board members to ensure DRC is well-governed, financially sound and delivering on its mission to empower disabled people to live independently. Board meetings are held approximately six times per year, with additional time for sub-committee work and occasional events.
Attend Board meetings (approx. 6 per year, in Bedford and/or online)
Contribute to strategic planning and organisational development
Provide oversight of financial performance and risk management
Act as an ambassador for DRC in the wider community
Bring your skills and experience to support specific areas of the organisation
Skills We're Looking For
We welcome applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds. We are particularly interested in people with experience in:
Finance or accountancy
Legal or HR
Health and social care
Fundraising or income generation
Marketing, communications or digital
Lived experience of disability or caring
Role Details
Hours: Approximately 6–8 hours per month
Contract: Voluntary — 3 year term (renewable)
Expenses: Reasonable travel and out-of-pocket expenses reimbursed
Location: Bedford and/or remote
